Charles
Uncle Charles married Vivian Sickler in 1941, while he was in the Coast Guard. Growing up as one of the middle children in a very busy home, he sometimes felt ignored and left out. He told the story of being fed up with it all and then deciding to run away. He left and spent two days in the mountains, and finally went home. He was astonished to discover that in such a busy and chaotic home full of kids, no one had noticed he was gone! Uncle Charles and Aunt Vivian
had three children. He was a baker at a mental hospital, and lived much of his life in Napa, California prior to returning to Paonia to retire in 1975, where he built houses.
